Yes! Piano Transport Moving is the company that takes care of your apartment, house, business, or safe transport move. Be assured ! If we are able to handle pianos of 200-1200 lbs, we are able to move your stock safely!
To choose your piano transporter, ask the right questions: what is the level of experience of their movers? How long have they been shipping pianos? Do they have insurance? Moving a piano is a matter for professionals who have experience, specific techniques as well as the appropriate equipment and means. We strongly advise you to choose a company specialized in the transport of pianos and anything that is particularly bulky, fragile or heavy such as safes, dental chairs or marble slabs . Piano transporters use specific equipment designed to handle heavy and fragile loads: a hand truck, a trolley, protective covers, tie-down straps, wooden platforms (skid), trucks with tie bars solid and equipped with a temperature control system inside the housing.
Usually, movers are experienced people, in very good physical condition, who have worked in teams for many years. Having the right equipment is not enough; you have to study the piano transportation technique very well, because each one is unique. It is also necessary to anticipate delicate passages, measure carefully, identify, automate and bring together the strengths of each mover and make them work in harmony. The job of a well-trained piano mover is to apply 30% physical effort, 40% mental work, and 30% to properly use the specific equipment.
Legislation relating to the transport of goods requires transport companies to have insurance. So, all you have to do is check if the company is registered in the Quebec Business Register and with the Commission du transport du Québec.
What is the maximum amount for which you are insured? We currently offer two types of protection for your belongings:
1- Cargo Insurance, which is insurance protection for $25,000 on the cargo;
2- Additional Insurance: Please talk to your sales representative if you are interested. All conditions are stipulated in the contract.
Piano Transport Moving has modern equipment and experienced movers for safe transport. We will not damage your furniture or your building. Let’s forget archaic methods: no piano pushed on the ground, no straps that damage your back. 80% of movers refuse to transport pianos, fearing injuries and damage.
In our company, the movers are trained by the owner, a musician and athlete. They learn how to solve minor problems (adjusting the pedal board) and how to lift heavy loads without getting hurt. Europe has advanced equipment, such as the Klavier-Roller , but Montreal’s architecture prevents us from using it.
We adapt by making our own tools to reduce physical effort. We use protective mats and rubber trolleys. The piano is always on a wooden platform, never in direct contact with the ground. No matter the condition of the piano, we offer the same quality service.
We do not ask to disassemble the piano into parts to reduce its weight. This is an operation that especially applies to old pianos (H=54-60 inches). Our company uses this technique when one of the following situations requires it: you have stairs with 90 degree turns and we can’t turn it because it’s too narrow, or when the piano hits the ceiling at because you renovated your basement or your hallway and lowered the ceiling, or because you changed the structure of your stairs. Above all, this is a rather risky operation since the mechanics of a piano is a fairly complex assembly. So, such a move will be carried out in 3 stages:
1) dismantling of the piano, which will be carried out by a technician
2) the move, which will be carried out by our company
3) reassembly of the piano, which will be carried out by the technician.
Déménagement Piano Transport offers you the formula called “regrouping”. The moving of your piano will be grouped with one or more moves going in the same direction and the costs will be shared by several clients. The only disadvantage: moving in a group makes it difficult to choose the date you want, so you must be flexible.
If you need to replace any part of your piano, it is best to contact a professional technician. He will be able to assess the damage and make the necessary repairs or replacements. Additionally, it is also important to take preventative measures such as maintaining a suitable environment for your piano and implementing a regular maintenance schedule to minimize the risk of damage and costly repairs. With proper care, your piano can remain in good condition for years to come and bring you joy and music. Do not hesitate to contact a professional if you have any questions or concerns regarding the maintenance of your piano.
The cost of moving a piano depends on several factors: the type of piano (upright or grand), its dimensions, its value, the distance to be covered and the complexity of access (floors, stairs, etc.).
To give you an idea, imagine that we are a car garage: you pay for the “part” (the piano) and for the “service” (the move). The cost of the service varies according to the time required, influenced by the location of the piano and the difficulties of access.
When it comes to free or very cheap pianos, be careful. It is rare that a good piano is given away for no reason. Either it is complicated to transport or it has mechanical problems that are expensive to repair.
Yes, it is highly recommended to have your piano tuned after a move, even if it was transported with the utmost care. Vibrations and changes in temperature and humidity can affect the tuning of the instrument. However, it is recommended to wait 1 to 2 weeks after the move to tune the piano. This will allow it to stabilize and adapt to its new climatic environment.
It is recommended to book your piano move as early as possible, especially if you are moving during peak season or have specific needs. Some companies may require several weeks or even months of notice to arrange the transport of your piano in the best conditions.
